GROUNDHOG DAY 2023, I woke (in the general sense) up, not realizing it was my birthday until later in the morning. Suddenly, I realized, oh my gosh, I’m now 79. Wow, where does time go? I began to reflect on my life and came to the conclusion that denial is a great way to travel through very difficult times to survive. The early years of my life were very difficult. I would not wish my experiences on my worst enemy. I really didn’t understand until many years later that my life was not the typical family life of most healthy families. Families that communicated daily shared feelings and talked about everything life events, right and wrong, social graces, religion, rules of conduct, and travel, to name a few. Remember, you don’t know what you don’t know until you find out. Age does not determine your awareness of intelligence, but exposure does. I did not figure out, probably until the 1970s, there is a lot more to life than a mere existence. From birth until death, our life lessons and our daily connection with those we communicate and share our thoughts and beliefs will help develop who we are and what we can contribute to our world. Self-awareness and acknowledging areas of weakness in our own personality are so important in our personal growth and happiness. It’s okay not to know something or have a particular skill we see in others that we admire. Unique as we all are, it contributes toward meshing many different skill sets, to oil the wheels of a well-run machine, our country. I do believe in a two-party government system that requires communication, debate, and negotiation, hoping to serve the majority of its citizens. Partisan politics is not the answer. As young children, we are taught to share, and that is a simple concept that we should all be comfortable with. The purpose of this book, I hope, is to give everyone who reads it an incentive to share their life experience to help explain the diversity and complex issues to bring our country together in a more cohesive way. There are always variables in every situation, lists of advantages and disadvantages may help our politicians and citizens to make the right choices for the majority. There are so many laws on the books of our government that most people are totally unaware of. Congress votes, makes a law, and moves on to the next issue at hand. Google any concern you may have. I’m frequently surprised by the enormous amount of information on most topics.
